Heavy Machinery Fitter and Turner

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Machinery Fitter and Turner to join our mechanical team. As a key member, you will be responsible for the fitting, assembly, and maintenance of components for truck-mounted elevated work platforms (EWPs).

Job Responsibilities
  • Assemble, fit, and maintain mechanical components and systems for truck-mounted EWPs.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure precise assembly and fitment of parts.
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, and other machinery to fabricate parts with tight tolerances.
  • Perform maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on mechanical systems, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on EWPs to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions in mechanical systems, determining appropriate repair solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot and improve mechanical designs.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with industry safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Keep detailed records of work completed, parts used, and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Fitter and Turner, preferably with experience in heavy machinery or truck-mounted EWPs.
  • Proficiency in operating lathes, milling machines, and other precision machining tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulic systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to precision in fitting and assembly work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Trade certification in fitting and turning or mechanical engineering is required.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to handle heavy equipment and work in various conditions.
