The City Planning division at Blue Mountains City Council is tasked with the vital and stimulating role of providing exceptional strategic land use planning for a City located within a World Heritage Area renowned for its stunning natural beauty and significance. The region encompasses over twenty-five towns and villages, each characterized by its unique local identity and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Formulation and assessment of planning and urban design strategies and frameworks.
  2. Creation and evaluation of master plans for significant sites and town centers.
  3. Oversight and enhancement of the Council's local planning framework.

Required Qualifications:

A tertiary degree in planning is highly regarded; however, candidates with degrees in related fields such as architecture, urban design, or other comparable disciplines may also be considered. Significant experience in leading strategic planning initiatives at a senior level is crucial for this role.

Position Overview:

This role is offered as a full-time contract for one year, with potential for extension. The position requires full-time commitment (5 days per week, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, with a fortnightly rostered day off). A part-time arrangement may be accommodated upon request (minimum of 4 days per week, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM). Flexible working hours can be discussed. Hybrid work options, combining remote and office work, are available.

Compensation: The starting salary is $100,949 gross per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation, with performance-related payments ranging from 1% to 3.5% of the annual salary, in addition to annual award increases.
