Project Engineer - BESS

The Harry James Group is partnering with a global EPC providing solutions to the battery energy storage system market. We are looking for an experienced project engineer to manage, optimize design and lead the execution of BESS projects.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage project execution, ensuring a thorough understanding of scope, schedule, stakeholders, and keeping all parties in sync.
  2. Identify gaps in scope and responsibility and work with stakeholders to address them to ensure project success.
  3. Apply engineering principles and consult subject matter experts as needed to identify issues and drive solutions on projects.
  4. Specify equipment for projects, including transformers, switchgear, and protection solutions.
  5. Interface with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent communication.
  6. Review project design documents, including single-line drawings, communication diagrams, layouts, and equipment test reports.
  7. Plan and lead BESS project commissioning.
  8. Provide constructive feedback to improve internal processes and product.
Background:
  1. Bachelor's degree in electrical or power system engineering or equivalent experience.
  2. 5+ years of experience leading project design, preferably in building large power stations or PV or other utility-scale power projects.
  3. 3+ years of BESS or PV project experience, preferred.
  4. PE certification or equivalent, preferred.
  5. Familiarity with permitting processes with local authorities.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  7. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30%.
  8. Comfortable in fast-paced, rapid growth environments.
  9. A passion for renewables and making a difference is a plus.
