Transmission Network Specialist

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys applying engineering principles to real-world challenges, thrives on innovation, and is committed to delivering resilient network performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to long-term planning and performance of the transmission network by developing and maintaining power system models to support secure and operable system performance.
  • Evaluate customer connection proposals and negotiate performance standards, taking into account technical requirements and operational needs.
  • Support system capability and security analysis, operational planning, and equipment rating assessments to ensure reliable and efficient power transmission.
  • Develop detailed reports, including inputs for the Transmission Annual Planning Report, to provide stakeholders with valuable insights into network performance.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is essential for success in this role.
  • Membership with Engineers Australia is also required, as it demonstrates a commitment to upholding industry standards and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of transmission system reliability, substation components, and operational performance is crucial for making informed decisions.
  • Experience with power system modeling tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and PLEXOS is necessary for developing and maintaining accurate models.
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with stakeholders and team members.

The successful applicant will have 3-5 years of experience in a related field, demonstrable capability, and a collaborative mindset. They should be committed to safety-first practices and value transferable skills, attitude, and alignment with company values.
