Job Opportunity

This role will lead cutting-edge projects to develop therapeutic antibodies and biologics, applying state-of-the-art protein biochemistry, molecular biophysics, and structural biology techniques.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee antibody engineering projects from conception through to candidate characterisation
  • Establish and manage workflows for mammalian expression, purification, and biophysical analysis
  • Apply structural biology principles to design and optimise therapeutic proteins in collaboration with domain experts
  • Interpret biochemical, biophysical, and structural data to inform engineering decisions
  • Guide junior staff development and contribute to student training

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field such as protein engineering, structural biology, or biochemistry
  • Mandatory industry experience in therapeutic antibody or biologics development
  • Demonstrated expertise in antibody or protein engineering, including stability, expression, and function optimisation
  • Proficiency in protein expression (mammalian systems preferred), purification, and biophysical characterisation
  • Familiarity with applying structural biology concepts to protein design and collaborating effectively with specialists
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Track record of publications and/or patents in relevant areas
