Railway Operations Assistant

This role supports the train driver in ensuring safe and efficient train operation.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply working rules and regulations to assist with rail operations
- Identify and respond to signals and signs correctly
- Process workplace documentation
- Respond to emergency procedures
- Follow occupational health and safety procedures
- Shift materials safely using manual handling methods
- Manage fatigue effectively
- Shunt rolling stock
- Communicate effectively in the workplace
- Secure cargo
- Conduct a train inspection
- Assist in meeting train operation requirements efficiently, safely and on time
The successful candidate will have:
- Ability to work across 24/7 shift work rosters
- Technical or trade background preferred but not essential
- Recent drivers license history required
- Proactive approach to task resolution
- Flexibility and adaptability in a demanding environment
Required Qualifications:
- Awareness of railway fundamentals
- Safe access to the rail corridor
- Work health and safety procedures
- Train roll-by inspection
- Braking system test
- Shunting, coupling and uncoupling rail vehicles
