About the Role

Our team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Qualified Train Driver Assistant. This role provides an excellent opportunity for career advancement and offers a pathway to becoming a qualified train driver.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a qualified driver to ensure safe and efficient train operation in accordance with Qube Rail Safety Management Procedures and Systems, track access provider rules, regulator and siding owner procedures.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, training sessions, briefing, and toolbox talks associated with safe and efficient train operations.
  • Work towards achieving the required units of competency as part of the Certificate IV in Train Driving (TLI42622).
  • Comply with procedures, work instructions, operating protocols, and rules to facilitate safe and efficient train operations.
About You / Qualifications
  • Must be available to work across a 24/7 shift work roster.
  • A technical or trade background is preferred but not essential.
  • Hold a current driver's license and provide recent driver history.
  • Have strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, able to work in a safety-critical environment.
  • Meet the requirements of a Rail Category one medical with a good level of fitness and general health.

  • TLIB 3118 Apply awareness of railway fundamentals.
  • TLIF 1025 Follow work health and safety procedures.
  • TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor.
  • TLIC 0016 Identify and respond to signals and trackside signs.
  • TLIC 4074 Shunt, couple, and uncouple rail vehicles.
  • TLID 0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods.
  • TLIF 0008 Apply safety critical communications in the rail environment.
  • TLIF 0004 Work effectively in a train driving environment.
  • TLIF 2010 Apply fatigue management strategies.
  • TLIF 3058 Apply safeworking rules and regulations to rail functions.
  • TLIF 3091 Apply awareness of dangerous goods and hazardous materials requirements.
  • TLIB 3019 Test train braking system.
  • TLIB 3026 Prepare for train operation.
