At 54 reasons, we're excited to launch a new holistic alternative learning program in Mount Isa, partnering with Ohana for Youth. This innovative initiative aims to reconnect young people involved in the youth justice system with education, training or employment pathways.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional leader to bring this vision to life. You'll lead the establishment of our Alternative Learning Program, supporting young people aged 10-16 and their families.

  • Lead and develop a passionate team, providing professional supervision and guidance
  • Partner with local stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and holistic service
  • Build connections with schools, education providers, youth justice services, and specialist supports
  • Advocate for young people and their families through local networks and engagement with government agencies
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance with practice standards, child safeguarding policies, and reporting requirements

You will be responsible for:

  • Proven leadership skills and experience in building high-performing teams
  • A Bachelor qualification in Human Services or Education, or significant equivalent experience
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and families
  • Knowledge and understanding of factors impacting on child outcomes
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and de-escalate complex scenarios
