About the Role

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team at Vision Australia. As an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, you will work with clients who are blind or have low vision to provide assessment, training, and intervention services to help them achieve equity and access in their daily lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' mobility needs and develop personalized plans to address these needs.
  • Provide training and guidance on the use of mobility aids, low vision aids, and other assistive technologies to enhance clients' independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting clients' needs.
  • Develop and implement training programs for clients, their families, and caregivers to promote independence and confidence in mobility and daily living skills.
  • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations to ensure clients are meeting their goals and make adjustments to their plans as needed.

Requirements:

  • Approved qualifications in Orientation and Mobility as recognized by the Orientation and Mobility Association Australasia (OMAA).
  • Knowledge and skills in working with children, adults, and older adults with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Experience in providing client support and mobility services in person and/or through other communication mediums.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve client outcomes.
