
Production Operations Manager

We are seeking a skilled leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of our large-scale compost production team at a dynamic facility.
This leadership position reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality products.
The role offers a strong focus on team motivation and operational efficiency, with opportunities to advance into management and broader business leadership.
Candidates will have opportunities to work within a dynamic industry closely connected to agriculture and horticulture sectors.
- Lead workplace safety initiatives and drive compliance across the department.
- Manage production team personnel, including Supervisors, Leading Hands, and OS workers, developing schedules, rosters, and training programs.
- Initiate, train, validate, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to machine operation and phase processes.
- Drive departmental efficiencies, process optimization, and Continuous Improvement.
- Oversee quality control and inspection programs.
- Monitor tunnel control programs and process equipment, responding promptly to system alarms and troubleshooting issues.
- Manage raw materials and ingredients/brew make-ups.
- Execute weekly/monthly goals in collaboration with the Management Team.
- Collaborate with external specialists, agriculture technologists, and consultants to enhance processes.
- Manage departmental inventory and consumables.
- Participate in the Leadership Team and Board, reporting on performance.
Strong leadership skills and commitment to safety, quality, and operational efficiency are essential. A tertiary qualification in agronomy, horticulture, agriculture, or plant science is highly regarded.
Proven experience in production management or senior supervisory roles, ideally within horticulture or agriculture, is preferred.
Effective people management skills, adapting to changing circumstances while delivering exceptional outcomes, are required.
Familiarity with WHS Industry standards; formal WHS training is highly regarded.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with a focus on time efficiency.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, approachable, motivating, and responsive to departmental needs, are expected.
Flexibility to work varying hours, including early starts, rostered public holidays, on-call duties, and occasional weekends.
Licences: Forklift Licence. Australian Driver Licence.
