Professional Legal Advisor

This role requires a skilled legal professional to provide high-quality advice and services on a wide range of contractual, property and administrative legal matters.
- Provide expert legal guidance and support to the Council, Executive and staff
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents
- Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and advise on changes and their implications
- Manage legal risks and develop effective risk management strategies
- Brief external legal advisors on behalf of the Council for court proceedings
- A Bachelor of Law degree from a recognised university and admission to practice as a lawyer in Victoria with a minimum of two years post-admission experience is essential
- Experience in interpreting legal matters in a Local Government context is highly desirable
- Exposure to at least two of the following areas: Property law, contracts, procurement, administrative law or prosecutions in a local government setting is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary
- Excellent communication skills are essential
