
Director of Nursing Leadership Role

The Director of Nursing is a leadership position responsible for overseeing perioperative services in day procedure centres. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality patient-centred care that aligns with national standards and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead daily operations of perioperative services to ensure smooth workflow and optimal patient outcomes.
- Supervise and mentor clinical staff, oversee onboarding, training, and performance management to enhance team performance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, including NSQHS (2nd Edition), ISO 9001, AS 5369, and other applicable regulations.
- Oversee clinical risk management, incident reporting, and accreditation readiness to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimise patient care and service delivery, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Manage stock, equipment, and consumables, including procurement and preventative maintenance, to support efficient service delivery.
- Promote a culture of safety, empathy, and excellence in care, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Support workforce planning, rostering, and professional development initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and secure patient records, adhering to strict confidentiality and data protection policies.
- Bachelor of Nursing or higher qualification, current registration with AHPRA, and legal capacity to work in Australia.
- Minimum of five years' perioperative nursing experience, including qualifications and experience in anaesthetic nursing.
- At least two years of experience in a clinical management or leadership role, demonstrating leadership skills and strategic thinking.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, maintain high standards of documentation, and support escalation pathways and performance feedback processes.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead with professionalism, empathy, and compassion, while actively supporting organisational policies and fostering a culture of safety, care, and continuous improvement.
