Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst


Overview


Our organization is seeking an experienced and skilled senior financial analyst to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting financial data to inform business decisions.
Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and analysis of financial statements, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian financial regulations, ATO requirements, and IFRS, including taxation compliance and lodgements.
  • Conducting internal financial investigations, audits, and presenting findings to management or boards.
  • Advising on cost management, risk control, and improvements in accounting systems and internal controls.
  • Liaising with external auditors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Ensuring timely reporting to the Board, Audit & Risk Committee, and funding bodies.
  • Overseeing general ledger reconciliations and ensuring accuracy of financial data.
  • Preparing statutory financial reports in compliance with ACNC and ATO requirements.
  • Leading the annual budgeting process in consultation with management and program leaders.
  • Providing financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Supporting management in decision-making through financial insights.
  • Overseeing financial reporting for grants, donations, and government contracts.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of acquittals and compliance with funding agreements.
  • Tracking restricted vs. unrestricted funds and managing donor reporting obligations.
  • Overseeing payroll processes, including superannuation and leave provisions.
  • Managing salary packaging and fringe benefits tax (FBT) exemptions specific to NFPs.
  • Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations.
  • Ensuring compliance with ACNC, ATO, ASIC, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting annual audit process and liaising with external auditors.
  • Maintaining and updating finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supervising junior finance staff and providing mentoring, training, and development.
  • Collaborating with program managers to strengthen financial literacy across the organization.
  • Contributing to a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CA qualified or working towards), including at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, budgeting, taxation compliance, auditing, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to maintain internal control systems, liaise with stakeholders, and advise on financial efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication skills, collaborative attitude, and alignment with organizational values.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and ACNC/ATO reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with grant acquittals and reporting for government and philanthropic funding.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
