The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians.

We are seeking a financial expert to support our Principal Advisor and Manager, Health Service Financial Performance in understanding and delivery of the department's strategic financial investment in Victoria's health system.

The successful candidate will be part of a specialist branch that coordinates the financial performance of health services and will work alongside a team of finance professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of health service financial information for developing reports and undertaking detailed financial analysis.
  • Assist in preparing and coordinating reporting tasks such as variance reporting, questionnaires and briefings and ad-hoc financial information requests from internal stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear reporting and tight timelines are adhered to.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in providing financial support within complex organisations and ability to provide financial analysis and benchmarking that influences operational performance and outcomes.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to seek resolution of problems through policy or process guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey information, ideas and insights in ways that maximise understanding of key messages.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting/Commerce essential, with Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA) or Certified Practising Accountants of Australia (CPA) highly regarded.
