Project Design Lead

In line with our energy transition strategy, we require experienced engineers to manage design and construction services for critical infrastructure projects. UGL has an excellent track record in completing renewable sector-associated projects, including Solar Farms, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Transmission Lines, Substations, and electrical distribution. Our proven delivery capabilities have resulted in an exceptional project pipeline.
We are seeking a skilled Project Design Lead to oversee the project design and scope from tender to practical completion. This role involves ensuring that designs are completed on time, meet customer requirements, utilize company resources efficiently, and maximize profitability. The successful candidate will be based in either Brisbane or Sydney.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the Design Plan for the duration of the project
- Coordinate all elements of the design between design team members
- Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of design resources allocated to the project
- Ensure necessary reviews, verifications, and validations are planned and conducted, incorporating outcomes into the design
- Ensure the design conforms to safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operating requirements
The ideal candidate should possess a 4-year degree qualification to Bachelor status in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Civil/Structural disciplines. Prior experience managing large utilities projects, particularly those involving High Voltage substations and/or transmission lines, will be highly regarded. Strong leadership and communication skills, including negotiation and influencing abilities, are essential for establishing effective working relationships.
Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary, ranging from AU$140,000 to AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
