Senior Trading Underwriter Role Overview

The Senior Trading Underwriter plays a pivotal role in devising and executing an effective strategy for the product(s) to drive growth, margin enhancement, and market positioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to underwriting strategy development, ensuring sustained growth and margin improvement.
  • Formulate short and medium-term financial plans for the product(s), with accountability for meeting or exceeding those plans.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of the market, encompassing legal, economic, competitive, and socio-demographic factors.
  • Collaborate closely with broker partners to develop the portfolio, meeting or exceeding financial plans.
  • Underwrite risks in accordance with underwriting appetite, refining it to take advantage of market opportunities.
  • Function as a point of technical referral, leveraging extensive risk, product, and pricing knowledge to inform decisions.
  • Provide feedback on risk pricing models to enhance sophistication and accuracy.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate thorough technical knowledge of the product(s), including features, market dynamics, and customer requirements.
  • Exhibit gravitas and clarity of purpose, instilling confidence in senior stakeholders.
  • Display a detailed understanding of sophisticated pricing practices and methodologies.
  • Possess knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance provisions applicable to the UK motor insurance market.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of risk management principles, identifying, monitoring, and managing risks.
