Job Description:
  • The role of Design Manager will coordinate and direct the design function across minerals processing and site infrastructure projects in studies, design, and project delivery both in Australia and globally.
  • The job holder will monitor and evaluate the work of engineers and drafting staff assigned to the project to ensure their technical competence and performance meet requirements.
  • Workload planning and provision of technical and administrative guidance to the Design Engineering team will be key responsibilities.
  • The job requires administration of technical briefs for sub-consultant engagement.
  • A Project Design Management Plan will need to be prepared and controlled.
  • Design interfaces with the client's other designers will be coordinated as required.
  • Management of Engineers/Designers will ensure authorization and issue of documents and drawings to the project team, vendors, sub-consultants, statutory authorities and others.
  • Timely responses to technical queries from contractors and project staff will be necessary.
  • Design non-conformances will be identified, investigated, recorded, monitored and reported on.
  • Familiarity with Sedgman standard specifications, typical drawings and calculations/simulations reflecting current industry standards will be essential.
  • Compliance with Sedgman's Design Management Systems, including NCRs, will be ensured.
