Community Reintegration Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and conscientious individual to join our team as a Community Reintegration Specialist. This role involves coordinating existing supports and services to assist ex-detainees integrate into the community as positive contributors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support detainees, both pre-release and post-release, from the Alexander Maconochie Centre who are returning to the ACT Community.
  • Work directly with clients who may/may not be under supervision with Community Corrections.
  • Establish and support referrals to services surrounding community supervision requirements, basic needs, accommodation, health care/mental health, income support and employment, and restoring connections with family, community and culture.
Requirements:
  • Strong administrative capability.
  • Ability to think and act in a busy operational environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills necessary to build rapport with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and act with diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues.
Eligibility:
  • Eligible persons may be required to undergo a National Police Check.
  • A current class 'C' driver's licence is essential.
  • Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required.
  • To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS), you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
