Job Title: Family Support Caseworker

We are seeking an experienced part-time Family Support Caseworker to join our vital service that makes a real difference to the wellbeing of families.

Our service is committed to social justice and empowering our clients to achieve their full potential in life. We provide settlement services, employment support, family services, emergency relief, tenancy advice, financial counselling and undertake community development projects and initiatives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will adhere to child protection guidelines and provide quality person-centred approaches to clients through case management and support. They will assess the strengths and needs of the child and family, including any risks, plan, and coordinate appropriate supported services and referrals.

A holistic approach is taken in providing a supportive role when assisting parents, children, or young persons in improving their parenting skills and creating a safer environment for their children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with families or young persons in their own home, community centre, or in group situations.
  • Support families to achieve their goals in areas such as but not limited to building relationships within practice and legislative frameworks to create change in families and keep children and young people safe.
  • Develop and maintain networks and relationships with key stakeholders to deliver appropriate services for children, young people, and families.
  • Participate and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and professional development to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence-based.
Requirements
  • Qualification in social work, social sciences, or related discipline.
  • Experience providing casework to children, young people, and/or families.
  • Demonstrate understanding of issues affecting families, including homelessness, mental health, drug and alcohol, and domestic violence.
  • Experience working with families with child protection concerns from disadvantage CALD and migrant communities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in developing professional and interagency relationships.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate and thorough case notes and complete reporting requirements to the highest standard.
  • Experience and understanding of administrative, accountability, and data management processes associated with case management.
Desirable Selection Criteria
  • Ability to speak Vietnamese or Arabic is highly desirable.
