Job Title: Mental Health Nurse Leader
About the Role:
The Mental Health Inpatient Unit is part of a large healthcare organization, supporting adults with serious mental illness across multiple locations in southern Tasmania.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate patient flow across all inpatient units within the mental health department and link directly to broader patient flow for the hospital through a centralized operations centre.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality mental health services in accordance with primary care principles and organizational policies.
Key Requirements:
- Demonstrated specialist level knowledge and advanced clinical management and leadership skills within a mental health acute care setting.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including mediation and conflict resolution, with the ability to build effective workplace relationships.
- Organisational skills with the ability to problem-solve and apply principles of clinical risk management, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Holds or is working towards relevant specialist tertiary graduate or postgraduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification.
- Extensive relevant psychiatric nursing experience or credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
