Responsibilities

">

The Senior Forestry Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for:

">
  • ">
  • Providing expert advice on road transport safety and compliance, including NHVR regulations;">
  • Supporting soft and hardwood harvesting operations, including cut-to-length and chipping processes;">
  • Assisting site personnel in developing site-specific risk assessments, operational procedures, and work instructions;">
  • Liaising with third-party site representatives to obtain key information and conduct joint risk assessments;">
  • Driving SHS consultation and communication processes, including SHS Representatives, SHS Committees, and toolbox meetings;">
  • Providing leadership and assistance in developing a safety culture and environment consistent across all safety-critical functions;">
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring site SHS Management Plans to meet site performance targets and business requirements;">
  • Establishing, implementing, and monitoring an inspection and audit program for sites, including maritime safety requirements;">
  • Implementing the change management standard when processes change on site and ensuring compliance with objectives;">
  • Providing advice and support to site managers on legislative and legal obligations regarding workers' compensation;">
  • Leading, mentoring, and coaching site operations staff on SHS accountabilities to ensure effective implementation of SHSMS;">
  • Supporting site-based management on return-to-work and injury management;">
  • Analyzing site SHS performance, identifying trends, and following up on initiatives to address current or emerging trends;">
  • Compiling monthly reporting on SHS performance.">

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • ">
  • Tertiary qualifications in OHS/WHS;">
  • Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) training;">
  • A minimum of three years' experience in an operational SHS environment, preferably with NHVR compliance;">
  • Experience in implementing and managing safety management systems;">
  • Ability to develop tactical plans to address safety issues;">
  • Heavy industry experience in forestry operations, mobile plant, and lifting preferred;">
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;">
  • Leadership, integrity, planning, prioritization, preparation, and problem-solving ability;">
  • Performance-driven and task-oriented approach.">

Estimated Salary

">

$90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience.
