Animal Care Specialist

  • We are seeking a dedicated and experienced animal handler to join our team in Hobart, Australia.

The ideal candidate will possess sound animal handling skills and the ability to comprehend and understand animal body language.

Duties:

  • Attend to customer requests regarding wandering animals, animals contained for collection, enclosure issues, patrols (proactive and reactive), property inspections, and non-compliance of dog off-leash parks
  • Safely handle frightened, timid, injured, or aggressive animals with confidence and patience
  • Undertake all impounding duties including registration and microchip checks to confirm owner identity
  • Provide preliminary care services for all cats and dogs entering into the Animal Management Centre. This includes hydrobathing, weighing, welfare, and preliminary visual assessments
  • Assist external agencies (police, ambulance, RSPCA) with animal control/handling to enable them to carry out their operational requirements

About You:

  • You will be required to have sound animal handling skills, livestock handling experience is desirable
  • A current driver's license is essential
  • You should be a team player with excellent customer service skills
  • Happy to use your own mobile phone (allowance paid)
  • Basic computer skills are necessary
