Aquatic Animal Husbandry Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Aquatic Animal Husbandry Specialist to join our team in Hobart, Tasmania.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with aquatic animals and a strong understanding of aquaculture practices.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily animal husbandry activities including feeding, larval rearing, system maintenance, water quality measurements and record keeping.
- Maintain experimental conditions as per protocols and ensure the welfare of fish is maintained as per animal ethics approvals.
- Undertake general laboratory tasks including maintaining/stocking laboratory consumables, inventory management and instrument scheduling.
- Be responsible for the construction and maintenance of aquarium systems.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in aquatic animal rearing (either commercial or research setting), with demonstrated knowledge and experience of aquatic animal husbandry activities.
- Demonstrated experience in construction & maintenance of aquarium systems, including connecting pipes, managing water quality, and knowledge of the principles of recirculating aquaculture system operation.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and computer skills including data entry and record keeping.
This is an 18-month specified term position, working 0.8 FTE, with half-days on Saturdays and Sundays. If you have the required skills and qualifications, please apply.
