Job Opportunity: Legal Advisor for Syrian Refugees

The successful candidate will serve as a legal advisor to Syrian refugees at the WATAN Info Hub in Mersin, providing critical guidance and support to empower them to access their rights.

Key responsibilities include conducting legal research, monitoring national and international news outlets, liaising with government officials, partner organizations, and individuals, and regularly reporting on migrants' and refugees' common problems and needs in accessing rights and services.

Primary Objectives:

  • Contribute to the development of effective protection strategies for Syrian refugees.
  • Deliver high-quality legal counseling through a supportive approach.
  • Inform refugees about their rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide assistance with legal inquiries from staff and beneficiaries.
  • Organize legal awareness sessions for staff members and beneficiaries.
  • Refer vulnerable cases to relevant stakeholders when necessary.
  • Monitor national and international news outlets for relevant social, legal, and political developments.
  • Liaise with government officials, partner organizations, and individuals.
  • Regularly report on refugees' common problems and needs in accessing rights and services.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Faculty of Law (completion of law internship will be an asset).
  • Competency in Human Rights Law, Humanitarian Law, Refugee Law at the national and international level.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of professional experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent English language proficiency.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of human rights law and Turkish national law on Foreigners and International Protection.
  • Experience or interest in the Syrian context.
