About the Role:

Davies Stewart Consulting Pty Ltd is partnering with a leading technical consulting firm dedicated to environmental solutions. The National Technical Manager will serve as a senior leader within the organization, overseeing the technical consultancy department on a national scale. This role requires extensive experience as a Principal Scientist/Engineer, along with proven management expertise and commercial acumen.

Duties:
  • Oversee and ensure the successful delivery of projects nationwide, utilizing your extensive experience as a Principal Scientist/Engineer
  • Take ownership of project management responsibilities, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to maintain compliance with client requirements and company processes
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers, ensuring project objectives are achieved while maintaining profitability
  • Lead by example in maintaining high standards of technical excellence and quality assurance
  • Oversee technical review processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of emerging technologies and industry best practices, driving innovation within the technical consultancy department
  • Communicate effectively both internally and externally, representing the company professionally and ethically
  • Attend meetings prepared and punctually, providing insightful contributions and strategic guidance
  • Complete financial reporting and analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Stay updated on industry trends, legislative changes, and emerging technologies, sharing knowledge and insights with the team
  • Utilize your commercial understanding and acumen to identify and pursue new business opportunities nationwide
  • Generate quotes and proposals for both existing and prospective clients, ensuring alignment with company objectives and profitability targets
  • Cultivate and nurture client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and driving customer satisfaction and retention
  • Take financial responsibility for the P&L of the entire technical consultancy department, monitoring financial performance and implementing strategies to optimize profitability
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives
  • Implement cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements to maximize profitability while maintaining quality standards
Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
  • Project management experience, preferably in environmental consulting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proven leadership abilities and a collaborative approach to teamwork
