About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Design Manager to join our Management Team at Richard Altman Consulting. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting project delivery teams with high-quality and innovative design solutions for projects across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership to the Design Team, setting clear goals and KPIs, and driving their professional development nationally.
  • Technical Expertise: Grow to become recognized as a technical expert in the field of civil construction, with a strong focus on water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Tender Process: Provide input to the tender process regarding design needs and costs, ensuring that our proposals meet the highest standards.
  • Project Delivery: Manage the overall delivery of design projects to agreed timelines, budget, and quality, working closely with project delivery teams.
  • Resource Allocation: Lead resource allocation and liaise with external design contractors to ensure the Team has the capacity and capability to deliver.
  • Risk Management: Ensure risk management principles are used for each project, mitigating potential risks and ensuring successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Education: Hold a degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience: Demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and project delivery experience, with a strong background in civil construction, preferably in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Leadership Skills: Possess leadership skills and experience leading and growing a design team, with a proven track record of success.
  • Business Acumen: Have managed a budget, reporting, invoicing, and performance analysis, with a strong understanding of business operations.
  • Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and team members.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
