Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the timely supply of materials and services, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers, and delivering cost, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.

">About the Role:">
  • The Procurement Specialist will collaborate closely with Procurement and Project Managers/Coordinators to develop the project's Procurement Plan and Execution Strategy.
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with suppliers and subcontractors, utilizing a Value for Money approach to procurement.
  • Manage the tender process, including the preparation and issuance of comprehensive tender documentation.
  • Track and oversee the tender process, ensuring transparency, fairness, and adherence to organizational standards throughout all stages.
  • Develop award proposals for presentation to leadership.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Delivery Team to forecast procurement needs and schedules.
  • Overview the setup and management of on-site stores.
  • Liaise with the Cost Control Manager to maintain the asset register.
  • Assist in compiling data for monthly procurement and project reporting.
  • Identify procurement-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Lead post-award meetings and negotiate terms with subcontractors and suppliers.

  1. A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred, though not essential.
  2. Proven experience in a similar Project Procurement Management role, preferably within Electrical Major Infrastructure or Construction Projects.
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large procurement packages from conception through to implementation.
  4. Experience working on PPP - Electrical (Transmission line/Substation) projects.
  5. Sound knowledge of civil construction materials and services.
  6. Ability to work to deadlines and targets, prioritizing tasks under pressure.
  7. White card – previous site experience.
  8. Evidence of strategic thinking and the ability to align procurement activities with business objectives.
  9. Strong commercial acumen, negotiation prowess, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
