Urban Forest Manager

The City is seeking an experienced Urban Forest Manager to play a key role in shaping the long-term growth, health and resilience of our urban forest.

As an Urban Forest Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of strategies that align with community goals for tree planting, preservation and restoration. You will provide expert advice, training and mentoring to support best practice in tree planning, installation, maintenance, risk management and protection across the organisation.

  • Responsibilities include:
  • Leading the development and delivery of strategies for tree planting, preservation and restoration
  • Providing expert advice and training on tree management issues, including tree value and valuation processes
  • Mentoring staff on best practice in tree planning, installation, maintenance, risk management and protection
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to implement and monitor programs and systems relevant to quality tree management processes

Key requirements for this role include:

  • Diploma in Arboriculture or demonstrated equivalent
  • Eligible for membership to Arboriculture Australia or International Society of Arboriculture
  • Qualified in QTRA, VALID or ISA-TRAQ
  • Construction White Card
  • Current unrestricted national driver's licence
  • Minimum 5 years experience in project supervision and contract management of arboriculture works/tree surgery within the public realm

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in providing technical briefs and reports to senior level stakeholders. They will also be committed to supporting growth and professional development within the organisation.
