
Regional Cultural Training Specialist

Job Opportunity
Cultural awareness training plays a pivotal role in our general practice training program. We seek an experienced professional to assist in the development and delivery of this training.
Reporting to our Regional Manager, Queensland, you will work closely with medical educators and cultural experts to:
- Develop and deliver cultural awareness training to registrars
- Build strong working relationships with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health program team and the community
As a member of our team, you will also:
- Lead the design and delivery of cultural awareness and safety training projects and workshops
- Represent us in relevant stakeholder committees, forums, and meetings, actively participating in discussions
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong personal responsibility and excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- In-depth knowledge of regional communities, traditional customs, and contemporary practices, including men's business
- Ability to engage and educate diverse audiences with sensitivity, empathy, and respect for cultural differences
Working Relationships: You will have strong working relationships with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health program team, the community, and other stakeholders. You will be able to negotiate and build support from these groups.
Education and Mentorship: As a cultural educator, you will provide education, mentoring, and feedback to GP registrars during clinical visits in Aboriginal medical services.
Our Organization: Our organization is a joint venture between the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. We facilitate shared GP training activities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health initiatives, cultural education, mentorship, and registrar housing in remote communities.
