Market leader in the construction industry for 39 years, Randstad is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Melbourne.

About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in coordinating and administering construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret designs for implementation in projects, ensuring seamless execution and timely completion.
  • Contribute to the improvement of existing designs, leveraging your expertise to enhance project outcomes.
  • Monitor progress to ensure adherence to program, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Attend site meetings to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design mechanical systems effectively and efficiently for commercial construction projects, considering factors such as cost, safety, and sustainability.
  • Utilize a range of computer programs to design, evaluate, and develop mechanical systems for various projects, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Assure system and project quality by researching and testing methods and materials, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Be involved in the Design and Construction process from Value Management through to commissioning, ensuring a smooth and efficient project lifecycle.
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests, serving as a subject matter expert for the team.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with Government and safety regulations, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' Australian engineering experience, with a strong track record of project coordination and administration.
  • Tier 1 Hospital experience highly desired, with a focus on mechanical engineering and project management.
  • Project engineer and operational experience, with a strong understanding of project management structure, plans, specifications, standards, and implications for project accountabilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve on the spot, with a focus on finding creative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • High attention to detail, with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Sound computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office & Bluebeam, with the ability to adapt to new software and technologies.
