Senior Connections Planning Engineer

Position Summary: We are seeking a Lead Connections Planning Engineer to spearhead the proactive planning of AusNet's electricity sub-transmission network. This role is pivotal in accommodating the increasing demand for embedded generators, storage solutions, and large load connections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee network planning activities related to the establishment of D-REZs, ensuring the integration of embedded generators, storage, and significant loads into AusNet's sub-transmission network.
- Conduct thorough network assessments to evaluate capabilities, identify limitations, and implement solutions to enhance network security, capacity, and reliability.
- Formulate strategies to optimize the use of the sub-transmission network, facilitating increased load and generation connections.
- Monitor compliance of 66kV generators and initiate necessary actions to rectify any non-compliance issues.
- Develop network investment proposals and plans for regulated transmission and sub-transmission networks, focusing on major station rebuilds and network augmentation.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers within the team, leveraging your professional expertise.
Qualifications: We are looking for candidates with a blend of the following:
- A degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience in the energy sector, particularly within utility environments.
- Advanced technical knowledge and practical experience in electricity network planning.
- Comprehensive understanding of the grid connection process, including generator performance standards and associated engineering studies.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electricity Rules and their application to network design.
- Expertise in power quality, system stability, and control mechanisms.
- Proficiency in electricity network analysis tools and software.
- Strong analytical skills and innovative problem-solving abilities.
