At Northern Star Resources Limited, we are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Thunderbox Operations.

  • Provide geotechnical support and contribute to key project work.
  • Propose safe and efficient mining plans to site personnel.
  • Develop departmental systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Review and update Ground Control Management Plans.
  • Carry out geotechnical evaluations, risk assessments, and make geotechnical recommendations.
  • Investigate geotechnical occurrences and issues, and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Look for, assess, and implement business improvement opportunities.
  • Engage with site personnel to determine specialist geotechnical requirements.
  • Provide support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to geotechnical engineers.
  • Prepare monthly reports documenting key activities and issues.

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • A degree in geotechnical engineering, mining engineering, or geology.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in the mining industry.
  • Practical application of geotechnical knowledge.
  • A clear understanding of regulatory requirements for open cut and underground mines.
  • Knowledge of various mining methods, including long hole open stoping, jumbo stoping, and underground backfill systems.
  • Exposure to mine auditing and assessment techniques.
  • Computer literacy in Deswik, Map3D, Numerical Modelling Software, Rocscience Software Suite, Phase2, Dips, Unwedge, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong report writing skills.
