Aboriginal Partnerships Officer

Join the NT Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security as an Aboriginal Partnerships Officer and contribute to protected area management in the Northern Territory.

About the Role

This 12-month fixed-term position is based in Alice Springs and offers a competitive salary with up to 6 weeks paid annual leave, three weeks personal leave, 17% annual leave loading, and an opportunity to develop a career in the NT Public Sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build relationships and engage with Department staff, Aboriginal people, and partner agencies to improve outcomes for and with Aboriginal people.
  • Work closely with partner agencies and champion cross-cultural governance for committees and boards.
  • Arrange training and capacity building processes to support Aboriginal employees.
  • Manage the flexible employment program, ensuring accountability.
  • Represent the Division and the Department in key Government programs related to Aboriginal engagement, employment, and economic development.
Requirements
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment with people of different cultures, including Indigenous people.
  • Understanding of park joint management programs and the aspirations of Indigenous people.
  • Communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people of all levels and those with English as a second language.
  • Problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team.
  • A Class C driver's licence and the capacity and willingness to travel independently to regional and remote areas.
