Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Special Needs Education Assistant to guide and support our team of SNEAs in delivering effective education programs. The successful candidate will work under the direction of classroom teachers to ensure students with additional needs are effectively supported in achieving their educational goals.

The role requires a strong commitment to inclusive education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with staff, students, and families.

A key aspect of this role is providing feedback on education and therapy programs, participating in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education, and creating and adapting rosters to assist in delivering effective education programs.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Working under the direction of classroom teachers to develop and implement education programs for students with additional needs.
  • Providing guidance and support to other SNEAs to ensure high-quality education programs are delivered.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of behaviour management plans.
  • Participating in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of delivery of education programs and/or behaviour management plans.
  • Demonstrated well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated well-developed written communication skills, including report writing.
  • Demonstrated well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief.
