Byford Secondary College (SC) is a newer school in Perth's southern suburbs. We have first class facilities to support high quality teaching and learning programs in our college. Located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD, our College caters for 1500 students in Years 7 through to 12. We offer a unique setting with a blend of urban and rural students, creating a vibrant college community. This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 4, 2025 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency.

The RoleByford SC is seeking a specialist Learning Support Literacy teacher. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the specialist Numeracy teacher and the Learning Support Manager to provide an evidence-based teaching and learning program to address identified needs for selected students in the Year 7 and 8 Literacy and Numeracy support classes. The program allows a cross-curricular approach to English and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) delivery and assessment, supported by established intervention and testing strategies and education assistants to maximise literacy improvement opportunities. You will be provided with opportunities and resources to develop capacity in evidence-based teaching. The role requires a student-focused, enthusiastic and innovative approach, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You should be able to analyse data, differentiate curriculum and support student resilience and confidence in learning. You will liaise with Heads of Learning and the Learning Support Manager to cater for different student learning needs and have a strong interest in High Impact Teaching strategies with a sound understanding of the Western Australian curriculum and explicit literacy strategies across the curriculum.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the specialist Numeracy teacher and Learning Support Manager to deliver evidence-based literacy and numeracy support for Years 7–8.
- Deliver a cross-curricular literacy program within English and HASS contexts with established intervention and testing strategies.
- Utilise education assistants to maximise student learning opportunities and monitor progress.
- Analyse data to differentiate instruction and support student progress and resilience.
- Qualification and/or experience in remedial literacy education
- Knowledge of the WA English and HASS Curriculum
- Engagement with evidence-based teaching strategies
- Excellent data analysis skills to monitor student progress
- Experience with standardised testing (ACER, PAT)
- Engagement with Positive Behaviour Management Strategies

Eligibility- Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
