Building Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Development Services team at the City of Stirling.

  • This is a critical role that involves providing pre-lodgement advice and responding to customer enquiries.
  • The successful candidate will conduct inspections and technical assessments, prepare reports, recommendations, and advice for internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will represent the City in public meetings, appeals, and enquiries, and maintain accurate records to contribute to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on building control matters.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to identify compliance issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Presentation skills required for representing the City in public forums.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Building or a related discipline.
  • Registration as a Building Surveyor Practitioner in WA (Level 1 or 2).
  • Strong knowledge of statutory building control in a local government context.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in building surveying and statutory assessment.
  • Local government experience is desirable but not essential.
