Job Description

We are seeking an experienced electrical technician to join our team in the Wellington region. As a utility service technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing utility scale battery sites.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience working on medium to high voltage equipment. You will be required to troubleshoot and repair equipment, as well as perform complex electro-mechanical debug and repair tasks.

You will be part of a tight-knit team that is passionate about renewable energy infrastructure. The role involves occasional travel to support other regional sites, but primarily based in the Wellington region.

Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as defined by the service engineering team
  • Perform complex and precise electro-mechanical debug, rework and repair
  • Perform tasks requiring a high level of skill and patience
  • Comfortable and able to work with Medium and High Voltage environments while maintaining a safety focus
  • Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and LV/MV/HV test equipment for diagnosis and troubleshooting
  • Develop and follow best practices and procedures for various maintenance activities related to Tesla Energy equipment
  • Maintain high levels of communication and feedback within the organization; prepare daily updates of work completed, problems identified, and future timelines
  • Have flexibility to provide support outside your region and possibly outside the country as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned per growth and diversity across applications
RequirementsQualifications:
  • Certified Electrician (Cert III in Electrical/Electro Technology)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience, with at least 3 years' electrical experience within the Utility sector (Solar/Wind experience is preferred)
  • Must have up to date Electrical Registration/License
  • Must have HV switching certification and experience
  • SCADA operating experience is a plus
  • Ability to communicate and function well in a mobile office setting
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Must be reliable, have good initiative, committed, and quality focused
  • Willingness to work outdoors, occasionally on the road at unusual hours
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, test equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong computer skills, ability to utilise proprietary and 3rd party OEM software
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the public
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain and perform top level professional integrity and appearance
