Seeking an accomplished researcher to explore the molecular mechanisms of potassium ion channel function and modulation.
Conduct in-depth investigations using advanced molecular dynamics methods and analysis, focusing on BK (Big-conductance K), MthK, and KcsA channels. Develop a comprehensive understanding of conduction, inactivation, and modulation processes to enhance our knowledge of these critical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize cutting-edge molecular dynamics methods and analysis to elucidate the intricate mechanisms governing potassium channel behavior.
- Collaborate closely with leading experimental researchers in cryo EM and electrophysiology to integrate theoretical and experimental findings.
- Contribute significantly to high-impact publications, fostering a dynamic research environment that supports career growth for talented individuals.
- Hold a PhD in physics, physical chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Have a solid background in computational biophysics, condensed matter physics, or physical chemistry.
- Experience with atomistic simulations of membrane protein systems, particularly potassium channels, is essential.
- Expertise in statistical mechanical theory and molecular dynamics simulations for biophysical problems using established packages is necessary.
- Strong programming skills in Unix environments, as well as proficiency in MD scripting for advanced simulations and analysis, are required.
- Ability to work effectively with experimental collaborators to achieve high-impact publications is crucial.
