Medical Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to work in a state-of-the-art facility with one of the largest public Anatomical Pathology laboratories.

  • The successful applicant will perform a range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) and technical tasks by applying established methods and procedures.
  • They will also undertake other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations.

  • They must demonstrate knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems.
  • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines is essential.

Additional responsibilities include working in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations. The successful candidate will be committed to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.

Required Skills:

  • Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering pathology services within a relevant discipline
  • Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
  • Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner
