AV Technical Team Leader Job Description

This role oversees technical and production operations at our venues, leading a small team with a focus on safety, compliance, and high-quality service.

  • The position involves operating audio, lighting, staging, and vision systems for live shows, conferences, and events.
  • Coordinate technical requirements, set-ups, and pack-downs.
  • Manage budgets and technical estimates.
  • Maintain venue equipment and infrastructure to industry standards.
  • Oversee inductions, risk management, and WHS practices.

About the Role:

This is an opportunity to work across performances, conferences, and civic functions, supervising staff and ensuring smooth technical delivery. The successful candidate will have hands-on technical expertise in live performance and event production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and roster a technical team.
  • Operate technical systems for events.
  • Coordinate technical logistics.
  • Manage budgets and estimates.
  • Maintain equipment and infrastructure.
  • Oversee staff induction and WHS.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar technical or production leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of audio, lighting, AV, and staging systems.
  • Sound understanding of Work Health & Safety, risk management, and compliance in event/venue environments.
  • Experience supervising, training, and rostering staff.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • Working at heights accreditation.
  • Relevant qualifications in technical production or project management.

Additional Requirements:

  • Current Class C driver's licence.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
