Senior Paper Conservator

As a senior paper conservator, you will play a crucial role in leading a team of conservators and contributing to various projects. Your hands-on conservation expertise, coupled with your ability to manage teams, is essential for success in this position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of conservators in treating a wide range of paper-based artifacts, including maps, plans, posters, photographs, wallpaper, documents, books, artworks on paper, and mixed media works.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans for complex projects, collaborating with clients and colleagues to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Managing project timelines, resources, and client expectations to ensure efficient use of time and staff.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Contributing to business development by identifying new opportunities and creating tenders and submissions for large jobs.

Requirements include:

  • 6-10 years of experience as a paper conservator with high-level hands-on technical skills.
  • A proven track record of managing small teams and creating positive work environments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Sound working knowledge of WHS practices and commitment to providing excellent client service.
  • Membership of the AICCM or equivalent professional organization, or eligibility to apply.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and basic photo applications.
  • Valid driver's license.
