Overview

We empower tenants through our QSTARS program and support individuals facing mental health challenges. Our core mission is to build information, resilience, and self-advocacy so that vulnerable members of our community can achieve independence.

Serving as a full-time (or 0.8), on-site Tenancy Advocate will allow you to make a direct impact on the lives of vulnerable tenants.

  • Provide expert advice on tenancy laws
  • Proactively mediate disputes with landlords
  • Educate clients on their legal rights and responsibilities

Your work will be hands-on and include:

  • Conducting client interviews
  • Meticulously reviewing tenancy agreements
  • Providing strong advocacy and support during tribunal hearings

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A strong grasp of tenancy law, particularly the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 and its updates
  • Proven experience in advocacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaborate effectively with a team
  • A genuine sense of empathy for and understanding of vulnerable populations
  • Meticulous and timely record-keeping skills
  • A bachelor's degree in law, social work, or a related field
