Role Responsibilities
As a member of our Field Service Engineering team, you will be at the forefront of customer support, executing service, maintenance, and commissioning tasks for Alfa Laval equipment and related products. Your role will involve:
- Commissioning, servicing, and diagnosing issues with both new and existing equipment.
- Conducting I/O tests on control systems.
- Identifying and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
- Performing trial runs post-service to ensure compliance with performance standards.
- Documenting service activities, including parts utilized and hours worked, to facilitate customer invoicing.
- Executing preventive maintenance on customer equipment.
- Training customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Providing technical and process support to both the department and customers.
- Collaborating with the sales team to conduct equipment audits for potential business opportunities.
- Meeting key performance indicators related to service reporting and documentation.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will have completed a recognized apprenticeship or possess equivalent technical qualifications (e.g., City and Guilds/NVQ/BTEC/Degree). A solid background in mechanical and electrical maintenance is essential, with experience in separation equipment being advantageous but not mandatory.
Proficiency in electronic testing, fault diagnosis, and familiarity with SCADA and PLC systems, along with the ability to interpret schematic diagrams, is crucial.
Preferred Skills
Experience with automated production lines, generators, compressors, and pumps is desirable. Familiarity with Alfa Laval's core equipment is a plus.
Previous experience in industries such as wastewater treatment, food and beverage, food processing, power generation, factory automation, marine, or military sectors will be beneficial.
Successful candidates will be self-driven, detail-oriented, and numerate, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good organizational and planning abilities are essential, along with the capacity to work independently.
Willingness to travel and spend nights away from home is required. Given the nature of the role, candidates should maintain a good level of physical fitness. A valid driving license is also necessary.
Technology Requirements
Daily use of a company-provided laptop is expected, and candidates must be comfortable with technology and proficient in its use.
