About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design / Technical Advisor to join our team on a fixed-term contract basis (approximately 1-2 years with possible extensions). The role will be responsible for providing technical advice and direction on planning and design policies, standards, and guidelines across transport infrastructure projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Manage a program of planning and design projects, fostering teamwork and staff development within the transport infrastructure functional areas.">
  • Technical Advice: Provide high-level advice, support, and consultancy to professionals and technical staff on the planning and design process to ensure fitness for purpose, value for money, and best practice.">
  • Design Process Selection: Assist in selecting the most suitable design process for project delivery and manage project development to ensure compliance and successful delivery.">
  • Design Review: Undertake reviews of both temporary and permanent works designs on design and construct contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, project brief, technical standards, and legislation.">
  • Coordination and Facilitation: Coordinate reviews undertaken by specialist designers internal and external to Transport and Main Roads and facilitate mutually agreeable outcomes to design issues between design reviewers and designers.">
  • Analytical and Creative Skills: Apply practical techniques of analysis and technical principles, identify possible problem areas, and negotiate modifications or adaptations to the design briefs where necessary to achieve acceptance.">
  • Project Delivery: Exercise creativity and initiative in investigating, analysing, and conceptualising possible design options to meet project objectives.">
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders, including specialist groups, consultants, contractors, and suppliers, to identify and address needs, expectations, and issues.">

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in the planning and civil design of transport and road infrastructure projects. You must also possess extensive experience in interpreting and applying policies, legislation, technical guidelines, practices, and procedures to TMR policies, standards, and specifications.

Salary and Benefits:

">

The estimated annual salary for this position is AU$120,000 - AU$150,000, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive remuneration package, including superannuation, generous leave entitlements, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Location:

">

The role will be based in Brisbane or greater QLD, with occasional travel required to project sites. The proposed hours are nominally 40 per week, although flexibility may be required due to project demands.
