
Therapeutic Community Leadership Position

This position plays a vital role in providing direction and support to staff and residents on their shift.
The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily functioning of the Therapeutic Community, including orienting and training resident workers, providing work direction and guidance, and modeling important work habits.
Fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment involves actively listening to others' opinions and staying open to change.
The duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- Oversight of the daily functioning of the Therapeutic Community and its residents;
- Support with orientation, training, work direction, and guidance of resident workers;
- Oversight of the residence in the absence of the Manager or as directed;
- Ensuring Wellness Checks and Security Checks are completed to standard;
- Case Management, assisting residents with Income Assistance applications, identification, and housing applications;
- Intake and discharge of residents;
- Providing emotional support and feedback to residents;
- Administering medication according to established policy;
- Maintaining reports, statistics, logbooks, and daily activities on residents;
- Liaising with agencies, professionals, government officials, and the community;
- Oversight of team duties and ensuring they are being done appropriately;
- Effective handover of tasks to Team Leads on other shifts;
- Answering phone calls and directing accordingly;
- Enforcing community rules;
- Ensuring confidentiality and release of information forms are adhered to;
- Performing callouts for staff coverage for shift cancellations;
- Safe dispensation of resident medications when no nurse is on site;
- Training and mentoring new support staff team members;
- Delegating tasks to support staff under supervision;
- Ensuring the Wellness Check Form is up to date;
- Awareness of critical incident report procedures and adherence to health and safety policies;
- Supervision of Grid Level 11, Support Workers during each shift;
- Attendance at Team Lead meetings when possible;
- Up-to-date 'Appointments' calendar and necessary information logged in FYIdb;
- Approval/denial of resident outing request forms;
- Support for the driver scheduling their day and assistance as needed;
- Carrying out resident room searches regularly;
- Contributions to 3-month/annual employee appraisals of support staff;
- Attendance at morning meetings, staff meetings, encounters, and group sessions when applicable;
- Keeping the Support Office and storage areas clean and tidy;
- Assistance to the medical team with OAT and UDS.

- Knowledge of therapeutic principles and practices;
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines;
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in software applications;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information;
- Physical stamina to perform job requirements.
