Role Overview:

As a Pastry Chef Apprentice, you will work alongside skilled Pastry Chefs, gaining hands-on experience in food preparation and presentation. This role provides the opportunity to learn and develop skills in a commercial kitchen environment, handling large quantities of food and diverse ingredients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the preparation, production, and presentation of various baked goods, including specialty pastries and desserts.
  • Learning techniques for chocolate and sugar decorations.
  • Operating kitchen equipment such as mixers and ovens under supervision.
  • Acquiring different cooking skills and understanding how to use kitchen tools like spatulas, mixing spoons, zesters, pastry knives, icing bags, pastry cutters, and sifters.
  • Maintaining, cleaning, and storing kitchen equipment properly.
  • Managing stock control and organizing the kitchen (some heavy lifting may be required).

To excel in this position, you should be a motivated individual with a genuine passion for food, eager to kick-start your culinary career. Strong communication skills, a proactive approach to learning, and initiative in daily tasks are essential.

  • Must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Must be an Australian Permanent Resident.
  • Must be a New Zealand Passport Holder residing in Australia for over six months.
