About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Fraud Investigator to join a leading Federal government agency on a 12-month temporary assignment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting complex and sensitive criminal investigation activities in accordance with the Agency processes and the Australian Government Investigation Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilising a Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or its equivalent, to support the investigation of financial misconduct and other criminal activities.
  • Conducting interviews, preparing statements and affidavits, collecting, securing and managing evidential material and confidential information.
  • Assisting with the preparation of cases and briefs of evidence for referral to relevant parties such as the Australian Federal Police and Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
  • Representing the Agency and giving evidence in criminal and civil courts.
  • Analysing, processing information and producing accurate and informative reports.
  • Contributing to changes in workplace practices and process improvements.
  • Assisting with the execution of search warrants, which may require domestic air travel and working extended hours including overnight stays.

About You:

The successful candidate will have high level interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team environment and autonomously, and the ability to analyse and process information to produce accurate and informative reports. They will also have experience in fraud intelligence and regulatory work, and the ability to lead a successful prosecution case in criminal court.
