About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Empire Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on workplace health and safety matters to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide WHS advice and guidance: Interpret WHS legislation, codes of practice, and Australian standards to provide expert advice on technical matters related to building, construction, and maintenance industries.
- Develop and implement WHS systems and processes: Assist in the development, review, and implementation of baseline SWMSs and other risk assessments to ensure compliance with WHS legislation.
- Support return-to-work activities: Review and develop suitable duties plans, review medical certificates, and assist with rehabilitation activities, including ergonomic assessments and organizing OT assessments.
- Conduct site WHS audits and inspections: Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with WHS legislation and make recommendations to improve safety on site.
- Assist with reporting and investigating WHS incidents: Assist with reporting and investigating WHS incidents and contractor notifiable incidents.
- Coordinate emergency planning and response activities: Coordinate emergency planning and response activities at the direction of the WHS Manager.
Requirements:
- Minimum 12 months demonstrated WH&S experience: Proven experience in WH&S, with a strong understanding of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and Australian standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong administration skills: Strong administration skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Excellent communication skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
- Government experience highly desirable: Government experience highly desirable, but not essential.
