Job Summary:
The Department of Finance and Procurement (DFP) is seeking a highly skilled Workplace Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Brisbane. As a key member of the department, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on workplace health and safety matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation, codes of practice, and standards to provide technical advice on workplace health and safety matters.
- Support return-to-work activities, including developing suitable duties plans and reviewing medical certificates.
- Assist with organizing and conducting workplace health and safety audits and inspections.
- Investigate and report on workplace incidents and near misses.
- Develop and implement health and safety programs to promote a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with the WHS Manager to develop and implement workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
