About the Role

Newmont Australia, a leading gold mining company, is seeking a highly skilled Mine Technician to join our Ore Processing Department. As a key member of our surface operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our mining equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Understand and enforce all site policies, procedures, standards, and safety requirements to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Participate in Surface Operations: Collaborate with Underground (UG) Mining personnel, Processing Plant personnel, and fleet maintenance to execute approved plans and achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Contribute to Shift Start Meetings: Familiarize yourself with the daily plan and contribute to shift start meetings to ensure a smooth and efficient start to the shift.
  • Raise and Complete Business Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Comply with Safety Management System and Environmental Plan: Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with the Company Safety Management System and Environmental Plan.
  • Report Safety Incidents and Conduct Workplace Inspections: Report all safety incidents immediately and conduct workplace inspections and documentation audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform Operational Critical Control Checks (OCCCs): Conduct OCCCs in accordance with Critical Control Management guidelines and address non-compliances to ensure the safe operation of equipment and processes.
  • Ensure Procedures are Suitable for Intended Purpose: Review and update procedures to ensure they are suitable for their intended purpose.
  • Engage in Risk Assessments and Management of Change: Participate in risk assessments and management of change to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Coach and Mentor Team Members: Coach and mentor team members in line with Newmont values to foster a safe and competent workforce.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience in Mining: Possess previous experience in mining, preferably in open-cut mining equipment.
  • Familiarity with Open-Cut Mining Equipment: Familiarity with open-cut mining equipment would be advantageous.
  • Experience in Poly Pipe Work and Poly Welding Ticket: Possess experience in poly pipe work and poly welding ticket.
